RV782B1 was the twelfth Vacuity Pocket that has been invaded by the Conseil in order to 'liberate' its populous from oppression. While not the largest vacuity pocket they have encountered, they are the most advanced. After over a year of fighting the Conseil's resources became strained and were forced to retreat. They still occupy several worlds and strategic positions, but they are in an untenable position. As the Liberation Fleet continues to be worn down their defeat seems inevitable. The Conseil appears to have abandoned them.

History Edit

The history of RV782B1 appears to closely mirror Trueline until the dawn of the nineteenth century. It is unknown what point of divergence occurred or if there was more than one. The most apparent of the changes occurs with the presidency of Andrew Jackson, who became the first President to serve four consecutive terms. This was primarily due to his immense popularity and his vehement support of Manifest Destiny. His successor, John Taylor, would not last a year in office being succeeded by his Vice President the young and charismatic 'Jacksonian Democrat' James K. Polk. His war with Mexico was just as swift as trueline. A second war, however, was caused after a group of southerners attempted to found the state of Sonora out of Mexico in much the same way Texas had. Mexico was given an ultimatum to recognize Sonora as part of the United States. It was refused and the second American-Mexican war occurred. This one was a total victory for the United States. The Mexican State was completely reformatted and forged in the United State's image (The Republic of Little [or Lower] America) while hundreds of square miles were ceded to the South.

Following this move much of Central America became aligned itself to the United States and began copying their form of government in something that could only be compared to 'Hero Worship'. This move caused a panic amongst the Great Powers that the United States would take control of the Americas and become a significant threat to the European Powers. This saw the extension of British, French, Dutch, German, and Spanish influences in the region. The Republic of Colombia, being a focal point between the separation of the northern and southern portions of the American Continent(s), was particularly victimized by this. It would be this move by Europe which would allow several other nations to form without significant influence from the United States, which was so common in trueline as well as many other Vacuity Pockets. The Empire of Brazil would be among the most powerful of these nations, and would later develop into a premier colonial power within its own right. While the United States' influence remained minimal in comparison to other timelines, it was certainly prevalent. The Republics of Greater Peru and Chile were among the influenced, with their constitutions developing to closely mirror their northern 'hero'. Argentina would, however, form more along the lines of Europe becoming a Kingdom. Uruguay, Paraguay, and Ecuador would follow suit only to become dominated by Brazil losing their sovereignty, in in the case of Uruguay, their suzerainty.

In Europe Germany would still form, and form through similar means at that. Napoleon crushed the Holy Roman Empire, disbanding it completely. The remnant German states formed the German Federation. Austria and Prussia would clash for dominance, with Prussia ultimately becoming the victory. The Federation was reformatted into a feudal Empire, where the various Kingdoms and Duchies would have complete domestic autonomy, while Prussia would rule over all military and diplomatic affairs. Austria would shake with a rise in nationalism, but it would hold firm. The Balkans would find itself becoming far less significant in this vacuity pocket. A joint German-Austrian-Russian venture against the Osman Empire would result in many small ethnic Kingdoms gaining their independence, most of which would never truly becoming independent. Most Balkan states fell under the influence of other powers. When Russia's influence in the region began to decay, the Osman Empire was quick to recapture several outlying Kingdoms. The Sultanate of Albania, however, was maintained. A predominantly muslim country, its rights were respected by the Osmans much like the Mamelukes and the Sudanese. Both of the mentioned peoples did gain nominal independence after the British and French defeated the Osmans in a war. When the British became to crumble under nationalist and independence movements both states were brought into the fold, as well as Kenya making the Osman holdings in Africa transcontinental. Sweden would also find itself once again rising to prominence. With its acquisition of Norway and Russia entering a state of decay, it was able to win a war with Russia forcing the return of Duchy of Finland to their state. The success was short lived as Denmark would gain back Norway. Even so, Sweden became more powerful than trueline.

After the United States found itself embroiled in a much longer civil war (or war of treason) many subject peoples which had once yearned for independence found themselves no longer wishing it. Over two decades of warfare had left the United States with well over several tens of millions dead. This coupled with a rise of Monarchism inside Europe and abroad lead to nationalism's slow and steady decline. Nationalism would never once become unimportant, as most states survived on the very basis of nationalism. It did, however, become overshadowed by Monarchism adapting to the Spanish Constitution. The people would ultimately decide the future of the state, however the most influential families within the country, as well as the personal representatives of the monarch, determined whether or not that future was one the state should go down. While the Spanish Constitution was deemed as a vile and hypocritical document meant to allow the continuation of Autocracy and Oligarchy by many people still clinging to the ideals of liberty (Switzerland for example), it was readily accepted by the peoples of Europe and their former colonies. It would be through the Spanish Constitution that many labor reforms, the complete abolition of slavery, and gender equality would come about. These reforms would take a great deal longer than observed in other vacuity pockets. Even so, many colonies were lost in independence movements, including the highly profitable colony of British Raj, which would descend into complete chaos after the British left, further cementing the idea that while the people should always have a voice, it should always be checked by the leaders of the state so that only issues that show consistent support from the people and are deemed safe for the country to adopt are handled through legislation. If this does not happen, then chaos, disorder, and possibly civil war will occur.

While the British Empire was reinventing itself and its meaning to the colonies, elsewhere things began to progress in other directions. The Chinese Dynasty, the Qing, had managed to maintain territorial integrity for much of its existence. This would, however, not prevent foreigners from taking large swaths of their land and people as 'sphere's of influence'. When Japan annexed Korea and Taiwan the Qing began to fear being divided up like every other people the Europeans came across. This fear ultimately spread to the people. This coupled with corruption and mismanagement lead to the collapse of the government into warlordism. The Qing Dynasty would continue to limp along until 1993, where it would be replaced in a socialist revolution. Japan's rise to power in the region was very similar to trueline, though it was a man named Nathanial Gates that would open up the country to trade. Siam would find itself readily capitilzing off of its neighbors. The French and British vied for control of the state, but Siam had artfully played both sides in order to maintain its independence. When the British were in trouble and lost British Raj, the Siamese were all to quick to retake their lands, as well as several others, in the ensuing chaos of former British Raj. When it appeared as though the French would pose a significant problem because the British could no longer counter them, the French themselves found themselves struggling with socialist uprisings. Indochina would be merged into one state by the Chinese, who adopted the role of their protector even with their decrepit position, into the Kingdom of Dai Viet. The Prince of Chang An, a Zhu Anwang, would take on the role of King.

In Europe the French found themselves struggling with yet another rebellion. A popular saying came about during the era: "Another century, another revolution in France." France had gone through Three Republics, Two Empires, and Two Kingdoms in the past century. This instability was finally beinging to show. Temporarily both Denmark and France would adopt the Spanish Constitution, if only temporarily, to deal with the socialist uprisings. The chaos had, however, lost France several overseas colonies. The Kingdom of France and Denmark-Norway would form an alliance between the two for sharing similar ideologies and similar feelings among the populous. Meanwhile Spain found itself struggling with Portugal. Spain had, for all intents and purposes, annexed Portugal after Maria's line died out. Brazil did not challenge this claim initially, instead it took control of Portugal's vast overseas empire. The Spanish King called himself the King of Portugal as well, making it The Kingdom of Castille-Leon-Aragon-Portugal-Algarves (with some ducal names attached). Ironically this initial conquest was what lead to the Spanish constitution's formula being finalized. (The constitution had been in place before, but it did not become the shape we know it until after this conquest) The issues with the Portuguese was not that they felt like their human/territorial rights were taken away from them, or that they were unhappy with Spanish rule. Their problem was that they were once a great power that was envied by most others. Now they had found themselves a part of an otherwise dying state. The Spanish-American war, which resulted in the loss of Spain's last few colonies, was the last straw. Portugal rebelled, and the magnanimous Dom Pedro III of Brazil assisted them. The end result was Portugal gaining independence and a colony to call its own, but the independence was superficial as Dom Pedro III claimed Portugal's throne and the colony was jointly controlled by the Portuguese and the Brazilians. Over time, however, the Portuguese would consider Brazil to be their direct successor, and fellow Portuguese themselves leading to a lack of resentment towards their former colony.

Elsewhere across the world, many nations began to develop without any rash military action. While war remained commonplace, alliance chains only became relevant if two or more powers would go against a single power. There was no such thing as a 'Global Conflict' inside this timeline. Most wars were either betwix and between the various proxies. There were notable exceptions, of course, but nothing that drastically redefined what the world was, or the balance of power. That is, of course, with the possible exception of the Directorate of Greater India. British Raj was left a complete mess with the withdrawal of the British. A state centered in Delhi would eventually conquer all the other states, but this was not before decades upon decades of mindless, unending, bloodshed. In the end even Burma was not spared. Bhutan, Nepal, Ceylon (Sri Lanka), Maldives, and all of the other princely states were annexed as well. It resulted in a very powerful, but unstable, state that could fall apart at any minute. Over centuries it would stablize and become a premiere power, becoming more and more totalitarian in nature. Elsewhere the United States found itself abandoning old republican values and adopting an imperial regime centered around George Allan Walsh, a naturalized American from a cadet brance of the British Royal Family (as well as almost every other family through familial relation). While this was occurring the Qing Empire fell to a socialist rebellion, which found itself declaring the People's Republic of China. These changes would result in governmental changes throughout the world, eventually leading to Denmark and France dissolving the monarchy and adopting socialist regimes, while much of the American puppets found themselves changing to become monarchies.

This lead to a quasi-stable and relatively peaceful era for Vacuity Pocket RV782B1. Wars would occur, but at an ever decreasing number and with an ever decreasing body count. By then most of the chess pieces were set. The balance of power was stable. The necessary puppets were maintained. The necessary alliances were maintained. The world was divided as most powers saw fit. During this time technology rapidly began to develop. As Earth was becoming increasingly overpopulated the desire to spread out into the stars began to manifest in the collective consciousness of all the people's of earth. Manifest Destiny began to develop a new meaning as the stars themselves were full of land just waiting to be taken. The first major colonization attempt occurred on the Moon. All the premiere nations, and most secondary powers, would found colonies there. The moon would be the bridge that lead out into the heavens. The first terraformed world would be mars. The first terraforming process took 176 years. The process was refined and reused elsewhere while mars was still in development. Nearby systems were beginning to be terraformed as well long before Mars was complete. By the dawn of the twenty third century a total of seven worlds have been completely terraformed and habitable for human colonization. With the use of the moon and new technologies immigration to these new worlds were cheap enough for the middle class to move their en mass. Poorer citizens often travelled free at the state's behest. The planets often had different day-night cycles and gravities. Due to the severity of these issues on mars it was determined that planets would be terraformed on the basis of gravity, which lead to many others being far more earth like in gravity than Mars. Over the centuries the total population existing off of the earth was around two billion.

The first few great leaps into these worlds came about with the fall of the American Empire as well as the People's Republic of China. When these great powers fell they didn't have to admit defeat. They simply fled to their further based colonies. The American Empire managed to secure several colonies. Many of these colonies would be sold off to other nations in order for the American Empire to maintain a colony on a planet with a similar (but colder) climate to Earth, with a similar (but stronger) gravity to Earth, and this colony would have a total landmass encompassing two continents (or roughly half the total land mass). The People's Republic of China would find itself in a similar (but much weaker) position as well. Several puppets of these empires also managed to escape the political turmoil to the haven provided for in the colonies leading to further development of these world. The Republic of China, however, would not have as much success as these becoming little more than a loose confederation of lightly populated orbital colonies after the Republican government was replaced by the Empire of the Later Qing. A large amount of turmoil on Earth developed as more and more people left earth for the stars. This lead to a radical change in population. The drive for colonization continued to thrive and by the twenty-fourth century colonization became cheap enough and quick enough for nations to attempt them on their own. Much of the higher ranked powers would do so. Japan, China, The United States, Russia, Britain, and Denmark would do so. Of those six, four would actually move their capital to these new worlds and would name them after their dynasty. Britain, Japan, China, and Denmark would only retain one world. Russia would have two. The United States, however, colonized four complete worlds. The process of colonizing more worlds would continue until the modern era.

It would be around the dawn of the twenty-fifth era that people began to realize that the universe is, in fact, finite. This would become a devastating blow to colonization efforts. What had once been a treasure trove of billions of worlds ready and waiting to be colonized, became an oasis with only a handful of worlds left. In particular there were only, roughly, twelve addittional planets that would meet the requirements for colonization. Most of them were previously avoided due to gravitational problems or climate problems. Now it seemed that terraforming would only do so much. The idea of moving planets became popular. This would greatly increase the amount of worlds that could be colonized as well as vastly improving the situation of humanity at this point. Little in the way of scientific possibility has been done, however. It remains a fact (or a belief) that science will eventually allow humanity to move the planet's themselves. Its just a question of when, and an offshoot of the question is if it will be soon enough. Until then orbital space colonies as well as atmospheric colonies became much more popular. The twenty fifth century also resulted in the final demise of Beligum, which had fled to the stars after France and Denmark partitioned its earthly possessions. It had arrived at two partially terraformed and desolate worlds. They limped on for about a century before it outsourced nearly every function of the state to the corporations of other states. Then the monarchy was deposed and a corporate state was left. This corporate state was amongst the most horrifying and inhumane that RV782B1 had ever seen. Their rule would continue until the end of the twenty-sixth century, where it would be deposed in a socialist revolution lead by Leon Tiverok and his son Karl Tiverok. The last great change was the inter-stellar war. Germany, the Habsburgs, The Osmans, The Italians, and several others went up against France, the United States, Great Britain, Russia, China, and Spain. It ended in a complete defeat for the German lead powers. The German and Osman navies were shattered and their prospects at colonization of the last remaining few worlds died then and there. The Conseil discovered the pocket in the year 2614, just a few decades after the war ended.
